The Weekly Comet - issue 11

Cold War Fashion

It doesn't take a metro-fox to notice how we're seeing more and more outfits based on the traditional Lopangan clothing for sale in Inarian stores. Loose linen pants with tail-sleeve, vests and turbans of silkgrass; hooded cloaks and rope-soled paw warmers are suddenly vogue. Most consumers seem to find this trend agreeable, even if the colors featured are usually limited to purple, orange and green - and let's not forget floral prints. However, if you're like our Editor-in-chief and regularly dissent from trends and sometimes good taste altogether when you get dressed, take heart. A source has come forward and informed the Comet that the fashion industry is now the new hotbed of the Lopangan rebels. Our source tells us, "If we can't beat them with a war, we'll beat them with (pieces of) a broken mirror. We are in the mind of the consumer!" No word on whether Martian fashion houses will follow suit. In related news, Fashion-Week has also kicked off in Cephalon and if you want to see how haute-couture stacks up among the worlds, see our gallery on page six above this week's pinup.

Blind Date for Rexus

And after what seems like minutes after his inauguration, sources are telling the Comet, that Inarian Chancellor Daniel Rexus will be appearing on a network television blind-dating reality series. The Chancellor's press office denied this claim, but only time and TV guide will tell. In the world of corporate leadership InterCore's Vice President, Ulrich Liechtenstein and AC General Tanya Fantozi appeared to be enjoying a double-date with Newport shipping-magnate Otto Delphini and model/actress Bella Lisco. Our photographer snapped the group strolling on the Annakis boardwalk before security detail removed him from the scene.

Intoxicated pelican wrecks havoc

Yesterday on Harbor Blvd directly across from O'Connor's Pub, there was an unfortunate four car pile up that resulted in 2 injuries and the spill of several fishing nets. During clean-up efforts today, authorities have found the party responsible for the accident: it is none other than a wild, non-anthropomorphic pelican. The bird was found alive, buried in a net of smelt. However, blood tests carried bout in routine veterinary procedures put the pelican's blood alcohol level at 3 times the legal limit in Inaria. Officer Echo of the Annakis Police Dept told Comet Reporters: "As of yet, no one is pressing charges."

They're baaaaack

From the looks of things, the Martian Enforcers are back and ready to take on yet more planetary insurrection. Last week, ME Commander Liska na Abbhion was snapped in uniform while in enjoying a non-official cocktail hour with AC Lt. Delorean Sheppard in Annyrion City. At press time, ME has not responded with an official comment. However, a representative of Zirik Dagokai told reporters: "They are reuniting not as an official body, but as a mercenary group that may or may not be subject to the (edicts of) the Martian Government."
